Air & Water Quality was established in 1989 to help homeowners resolve water and radon issues and improve their home environments and their lives. We are practical-minded chemists, engineers, and biologists with one thing in common – a customer-focused dedication to resolving your air and water quality concerns. Our goal is to provide the most effective technology available to solve your problem and offer you the highest quality service. We build our systems using the best components available. We are also the exclusive Maine representative of Kinetico, an Ohio-based manufacturer of high-quality water treatment system components. Air & Water Quality serves residential and commercial customers throughout Maine and in southern and eastern New Hampshire. Since 1989 we have installed over 10,000 water and radon treatment systems. OUR TEAM
Mike Gelberg, President
Mike thrives on helping people solve their water and radon problems. He, along with Jeff Twitchell, founded Air & Water Quality in 1989. A graduate of MIT, Mike worked on the Apollo and Skylab space programs and later helped create a pioneering computer company prior to starting Air & Water Quality. Away from work, Mike enjoys salt-water fishing and tennis. He lives in South Portland.
Jeff Twitchell, Vice President
Raised on a working farm, Jeff taught high school physics and chemistry for 10 years and also owned a building design and construction business prior to establishing Air & Water Quality. He has co-authored an EPA water radon course and served as an instructor for EPA radon programs at Rutgers University. Jeff has a Class II operators and distribution license for public water systems. In his free time, Jeff enjoys sailing and woodworking at his home in Manchester, Maine.
Jayson Morrison, Sales Manager
A native of Millinocket, Maine, Jayson joined Air & Water Quality shortly after graduating from the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in Biochemistry. Jayson is an expert in designing both radon and water treatment systems, and he greatly enjoys seeing our customers’ lives improved by the systems he helps design. Jayson is an avid hockey player and is the founder of the Air & Water Quality hockey team in the Portland men’s league. In addition he coaches high school hockey at Windham-Sacopee Valley. Jayson and his wife Jacie currently live in Portland.
Dave Withee, Service and Installation Manager
Dave is a 25+ year veteran of the water treatment business and our chief technician and troubleshooter. He is a “go-to” guy for Air & Water Quality team members and customers alike for all technical questions. Dave divides his time between installing and servicing systems and providing customer service and operations assistance.
Nate Chaffee, Service & Installation Manager – Ellsworth Office
Nate has over 17 years of experience installing and servicing water treatment and radon mitigation systems. A licensed master plumber, he is the primary installation and service technician for our Bangor / Ellsworth / MDI territory. In his spare time Nate enjoys hunting, fishing and coaching his son’s sports teams. Nate and his family live in Orrington.
