Air & Water Quality Glossary

Air Stripping

Large volumes of air are bubbled through the water to remove (strip out) the dissolved gases and volatile substances. This technique is often used to remove radon, volatile organic compounds (gas, MTBE,etc) and carbon dioxide.

This is also referred to as aeration.
