Air & Water Quality Glossary

Static Mixer

A device that usually looks like a short piece of pipe 3" or 4" in diameter and 12"-18" long. This device is placed in the plumbing after the point where chemical is added to the water. Inside the device are baffles that create a turbulant flow that mixes the water with the chemical that has been added. The term static comes from the fact that there are no moving parts.
